Steven Miller: Originally from Chicago, Steven Miller moved to San Francisco to pursue his studies at the California College of the Arts earning a degree in Interior Architecture, with special interest in Art History, Industrial Design, and Furniture Design. His early career was distinguished by working aside the renowned Interior Designer and Furniture Designer Gary Hutton, joining his firm and cultivating under his wing for six years before launching Steven Miller Design Studio in 1999. With projects across the country, Miller’s interiors and furniture projects are well published and have received numerous awards and professional recognition over the years. In 2009 Miller conceived and founded the NWBLK as an extension of his passion for design and making. He deftly splits his time between overseeing the gallery’s creative direction and the design studio’s projects for private clients.
David Fredrickson: After extensive experience in professional theater and film, founder David Fredrickson started Figureplant in 1998 as a design and fabrication resource. His unique mix of talents and equally unique pool of subcontractors allows Figureplant to take on a wide variety of projects and problem-solving tasks. Figureplant is uniquely positioned, between the worlds of advertising, industrial and interior design, and commercial construction, and has successfully completed projects for Gensler Architects, Marriott, Nike, Dreyers, Lucky Jeans, amongst others.
